KSI - Kilnforming Scene Investigation with Jim Jones
Would you like to become a kilnforming sleuth? Learn to spot devitrification, expose firing-cycle problems, and find the culprit whenever glass breaks? Well here’s your chance! Join Jim Jones and a roomful of fellow clue-hounding detectives to investigate sticky problems and basic kilnforming principles in this popular hands-on, workshop.  In this interactive investigation, we break into teams working with sample pieces and the firing cycles for those samples. Then we come together to discuss our findings and conduct an in-depth review of how they fit the theory of firing, specific glass chemistries, and other kilnforming principles.

When the Frit Hits the Fan with Michael Dupille
This workshop covers a variety of different techniques and processes, and is less focused on imagery. However, many of the things taught here may be utilized in creating them, including multiple firing. We’ll cover the basic practices of Fritography, combining them with
unusual shapes, and use a variety of dam methods. There are several other ways of working with frit we’ll explore as well; including making ‘Frit Sticks’, ‘Vitrios’, and a new process called ‘Scratch and Frit”.  I think you’ll find these to be useful and fun to do!..and that’s a tough combo to beat!
Michael is considered one of the pioneers of kiln formed glass. He has developed many of the techniques and methods which are considered the standards in fused glass today. His friendly, relaxed teaching style will inform and inspire.
